THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE

The Scientific Committee is an ad hoc body for the project and has a proactive and advisory role with the aim of:

  • Guarantee and ensure the scientific and technical quality of the contents proposed and published on the portal;
  • support the Institute in identifying the users’ information and training needs, in defining contents that will be presented online, in analysing the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed content;
  • evaluate proposals for integration or modification of submitted and approved content areas and suggest new areas in order to improve the effectiveness of using the online tool;
  • monitor and validate the correct work process and the development of the portal, recognising the commitment of all the partners involved in the project.

Chairman of the Committee

Michele Morgante, Professor of Genetics at the University of Udine and Scientific Director of the Institute for Applied Genomics (IGA), currently President of the Italian Society of Agricultural Genetics, President of the Innova FVG Consortium and a member of the Board of Directors of Area Science Park in Trieste. Since 2007 he is a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (National  Lincean Academy) - Physics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences. He is BMV Plant Biology Associate publisher and BMC Genetics section editor. He was Delegate of the Dean for Research and Technology Transfer and Pro Dean of the University of Udine from 2008 to 2013.

Member of the Committee

Giovanni Carrada, biologist, writer and publicist specialised in scientific dissemination, author and publisher of several books and some theatre plays. As a television author, he collaborates since 1994 with the TV show Superquark (RAI 1 – Italian national television).He was RAI EXPO scientific director. He designs exhibitions, museums, and layout for spaces that have to tell something. He collaborates with companies, institutions, research bodies and cultural foundations to improve their communication activities through consulting, projects, training and special initiatives.

Member of the Committee

Eugenio Sartori, graduate in Agrarian Sciences, agronomist, director of the Vivai Rauscedo Cooperative (VCR) since 1987. The importance of the Vivai Rauscedo Cooperative in the grapevine nursery sector is highlighted with the yearly production of more than 60 million grafted vine plants. Today the 250 cooperative members are facing a very important and difficult task: to ensure and make available in the 28 vine-growing countries, where the Cooperative works, a perfect product in terms of morphological, genetic and sanitary quality. Sartori is also President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Grapevine Nursery Association, a member of the National Committee for Variety of grapevines. He is the author of over 20 publications regarding the grapevine nursery sector.

Observer and the point of reference for the Scientific Committee

Area Science Park, represented by Stephen John Taylor, Director of Technology Transfer Service of the Consortium for the Scientific and Technological Research Area of ​​Trieste, participates in the monitoring and promotion phase of the project, with the support of the promotional activities of the portal among the companies, institutions and institutes of the agri-food industry with whom it cooperates. 

Observer and the point of reference for the Scientific Committee

CREA, il Consiglio per la Ricerca in Agricoltura e l'analisi dell'economia agraria, (CREA, the Agriculture Research Council and the Agricultural Economics Analysis), represented by Stefano Bisoffi, participates in the second phase of the project with the collecting of scientific contents according to its role of the controlling and addressing scientific activities on national territory and its constant monitoring and comparison between the research facilities
